Wet Paint Silent Auction in Stony Creek for Lyme Disease Research
Over 20 plein air artists will set up easels around the seaside village of Stony Creek on July 12th creating paintings to be sold at a silent auction in the gallery.
Proceeds will benefit the pioneering Lyme disease research of Eva Sapi, Ph.D., a UNH associate professor, University Research Scholar at the Department of Biology and Environmental Science. Dr. Sapi is researching the possibility that Borrelia—the causative agent of Lyme disease—is capable of creating “biofilm,” a secretion that renders the bacterium very resistant to antibiotics, which may provide answers to why the disease is so difficult to treat.
9:00 am–3:30pm - Artists paint en plein air in Stony Creek
3:30 pm - Artists bring paintings to gallery
3:30 -4:00 pm - Dr. Sapi will discuss her research next door
at the Willoughby Wallace Library
4:00 -5:00 pm - Reception and Silent Auction
5pm - Bidding Closes
Unsold paintings will be on display after the event at the University of New Haven to continue the effort.
