About Ruggiero Studio & Gallery

The gallery creates a repository for contemporary art that is based on the classical academy tradition that has made Connecticut southeastern shoreline a haven for fine arts since the late 18th century

In her working studio, oil painter Kimberly Ruggiero has assembled a group of established and emerging artists, all with ties to the prestigious Lyme Academy College of Fine Arts, in Old Lyme, CT, where she has studied over the past five years.

For more than a quarter of a century, the Academy has been nationally acclaimed center for artists who embrace classical-realism training as their background for creating contemporary works. Ruggiero opened a gallery within her studio to create a venue for artists to connect in a meaningful way with the community and with one another. Her goal is to celebrate the art spirit that gives extraordinary vibrancy to this beautiful part of the country and to increase access to the amazing artists she has had the privilege to work with.

Such prominent artists as Childe Hassam, Willard Metcalf and William Chadwick made this area the center for the Impressionist Movement in America a hundred years ago. It’s exciting that the same level of artistic endeavor and enthusiasm continues today but these artists employ a truly contemporary vision in both content and expression.

The gallery features several nationally and internationally recognized instructors including oil painters Jerry Weiss and Hollis Dunlap and sculptors Helene Johnson and Jeremy Davis. Paula Billups, Jack Montmeat, Ross Albrighton, Ken Dorros, Andrea Fenn, Robert Schweizer and Patricia Collins are among the other emerging artists featured in the gallery.

Ruggiero, who battled neurological Lyme Disease, will be donating a portion of the profits to further Lyme Disease education and research.
